Medusa 1600 Hispanosphere Series – Official IBA Portugal/Spain®️ Event
The Medusa 1600 Hispanosphere Series is an official Iron Butt Association®️ (IBA) qualifier motorcycle rally, organized by IBA Portugal/Spain®️. This event is conducted under the strict guidelines established by the IBA. Only riders who successfully complete the challenge within the designated time limits will be eligible for IBA certification and membership.
In addition to the Medusa 1600, IBA Portugal/Spain®️ also hosts the Hamster 500 and Hamster 800 (Butt Builder 800). These are non-IBA qualifier events, designed as preparatory rides for participants who may not yet feel ready to attempt a full Saddlesore 1600.
All registered riders for the Medusa 1600, Hamster 500, or Hamster 800 will receive a participant swag bag, which includes:
• Lanyard
• Route card
• Event jersey
• Hat
• Commemorative event patch (Note: This is not an official IBA oval certification patch or membership patch.)
Only those who successfully complete the Medusa 1600 (SS1600) within IBA rules will receive:
• Official IBA Membership Certificate
• IBA Membership Pin
• Certified IBA Patch
• And other related items
IBA-certified materials (patches, certificates, etc.) will not be distributed before the event, even to existing IBA members. These items are reserved exclusively for riders who complete the Medusa 1600 or any officially recognized IBA qualifying ride.
Please note: Finishers of the Butt Builder rides (Hamster 500 or 800) do not receive IBA membership or certified items, as these rides are not official IBA qualifiers.
Lastly, we would like to clarify that IBA Portugal/Spain®️ is an officially recognized branch of the Iron Butt Association, on par with IBA UK, IBA Mexico, and others. Any past disputes with other branches should be considered resolved. Our focus remains on upholding the integrity and high standards of the IBA riding community.
